HIMACHAL PRADESH & LADAKH TOUR

11 Nights / 12 Days

18th - 29th July 2006

INTRODUCTION

Now you have a chance to explore these untouched destinations, where time does not exist. This trip combines an awesome mix of culture and high-end adventure in the states of Himachal Pradesh & Ladakh. An exciting journey only for brave hearts, to one of the world's highest motorable pass in the World, 5600 mtrs. and has been recorded in the Gunnies Book of world records., an option only for the true adventurer. As the highest elevated and inhabited land in the world, it held a fascination for many, while for others there was the enchantment of seeing mountains which had been under the sea for millions of years, there were, still others, who believed that the 'Roof of the World' was also the earliest habitation of man.

Himachal Pradesh is one of the most beautiful states of India. The state is known for it's pleasant climate and cool mountain streams and supplies India with all it's temperate fruit. Himachal covers 55,673 sq km and lies between Jammu & Kashmir (NW) and Uttar Pradesh (SE). Tibet and China are to it's west and north-west, whilst to the south-west are Punjab and Haryana. The state is wholly mountainous. The Chenab, Ravi, Beas, Sutlej and Yamuna are it's major rivers.

Ladakh is a land like no other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the great Himalaya and the Karakoram. Today , high-altitude desert, sheltered from the rain-bearing clouds of the Indian monsoon by the barrier of the Great Himalaya, Ladakh was once covered by an extensive lake system, the vestiges of which still exist on its south-east plateau of Rupshu and Chushul. Ladakh lies at altitude ranging from about 9,000 feet (2,750 m) at Kargil to 25,170 feet (7,672 m) at Saser Kangri in Karakoram.
